To get things moving, I’ve put up a few posts from the last few days. I will backfill the others as and when I complete them - trying to braindump so much in a short space of time is fairly exhausting!
Interesting scenes in Tibet the past couple of days. Hands up if you believe the “official” Chinese news reports. Also interesting is the usage of the word “propaganda” in the IHT report.
According to minister Balls, every ASBO issued is a failure. Smirk-inspiring literal truth of the title aside, he’s right, and parents should be taking greater responsibility. Something we’ve been harping on about for a looong time..

Hypocritical maybe, but the above speech makes a large number of pertinent observations on the state of the UK media. I am strongly opposed to the press’, and tabloids in particular, use of sensationalism and propaganda as it is a cause of unrest and potentially damaging to society. His comment about having to spend an increasing amount of time defusing press (and press-inspired) furores is absolutely spot on. Reporting should be based on fact rather than speculation. A transition back to this mode of operation would (could?) result in more efficient government, and restore relative transparency to the industry.
